CURE India and Maitreyi College successfully concluded the viva session of the IAPC course, an outstanding outreach program dedicated to raising awareness about disabilities and promoting sustainability. The session was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Santosh G. and Dr. Smriti, Associate Director of Delhi University.
Dr. Santosh G. encouraged students to step forward and raise awareness, emphasizing the steadfast motto of disability prevention, eliminating hunger, and eradicating malnutrition. His inspirational words set the tone for the students' transformative journey, motivating them to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
The students of Maitreyi College embarked on a transformative journey, visiting schools across Delhi. They conducted seminars, engaging students in impactful discussions about disabilities and the importance of integrating children with disabilities into mainstream education. Meetings with school principals helped familiarize them with the program's purpose, ensuring broad support for their initiatives.
Taking their efforts a step further, the students established SeedBanks in each school in partnership with WePlant. These SeedBanks aim to preserve seasonal fruit seeds, promoting sustainability by planting them at the appropriate times of the year. This initiative supports Delhi Government Schools while also raising awareness among children about the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The program aims to nurture a sense of responsibility among students towards themselves and their peers with disabilities. By empowering teachers with the necessary tools to effectively educate children with disabilities, the initiative seeks to create an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
