CURE India continues its mission to eliminate disability from clubfoot by expanding awareness and access to treatment across the country. Recently, we partnered with schools, hospitals, and Anganwadi centers in Belagavi, Karnataka, to enhance our Clubfoot Awareness Program, ensuring that more children receive the care they need.
At the heart of this initiative was Ms. Diana D'Souza, District Program Coordinator, whose commitment to empowering communities is truly inspiring. By educating local healthcare providers, teachers, and community workers about clubfoot identification and referral, this program is making a lasting impact on early diagnosis and treatment accessibility.
Clubfoot is a congenital condition that, if left untreated, can lead to lifelong disability. However, early intervention through the Ponseti Method—a globally recognized, non-surgical treatment—can completely correct clubfoot, allowing children to walk and live normal lives. Raising awareness among frontline workers is essential to ensuring no child is left untreated.
Through active engagement with parents, community leaders, and medical professionals, this initiative is helping families understand that clubfoot is treatable and that free treatment is available at CURE India clinics. By collaborating with local institutions, we are creating a sustainable support network for families seeking help.
With more than 440 clinics across India and over 1,12,000 children treated since 2008, CURE India is committed to making India free of disability from clubfoot—just as polio was eradicated. But we can’t do it alone.
